To the editor,
I always enjoy reading Robin Hilborn’s column from the Bruce County Historical Society, but particularly last week’s article, about the 160th Bruce Battalion.
With wars being waged in several other parts of the world, we are very blessed to live in a country at peace. Yet on Nov. 11, crowds from our communities will still gather to remember at cenotaphs. Once more in Walkerton and Mildmay we hear the names of 78 who never returned to their homes and families in Bruce County. Wreaths and crosses will still stand in silent witness to those who did come back and contributed to our communities.
Funds raised from your poppy donations support our veterans, bursaries for their children and grandchildren, as well as the poster and literary competitions. And thank you for wearing your poppy.
