North Perth should not be bailing out North Huron’s poor decision making

To the editor,

The opinion piece “Ask and you shall not receive” is a good hard-hitting commentary by Mike Wilson. Hopefully our council takes a hard line on this matter.

When the pool was first built in Wingham, it was always known that it would be hard to sustain on a break-even basis. COVID aside, this facility has always run a deficit which seems to grow every year. There are lessons to be learned here.

We made the wise decision in North Perth that such a facility could not be sustained by our population, at least at the moment. We should not be bailing out poor decision making by another municipality. I would rather pay more for use as a non-resident if that’s the way they want to go, but I doubt that will solve the problem.

I agree with Mike’s comments.
