To the editor,
One week after submitting a letter to the editor telling everyone there would be a large number of crokinole players attending the Walkerton Knights of Columbus Hall on April 30 to raise money for the heroic citizens of Ukraine there are a couple of changes.
The first change is there will be three different card games played that day as well – bid euchre, solo and regular euchre. There will be a cap of 60 crokinole players. All the card games are enjoyed each and every day in midwestern Ontario, and before COVID struck they were like a household name in the community.
The second thing should have been obvious from the start but at the time it wasn’t. As the innocent people including young children are being killed daily the people of midwestern Ontario are showing they care!
A couple from Teeswater gave $50, a Greenock family gave $100, a South Bruce couple gave $200, and a Brockton family will be giving $1,000.
All this money will be added to the Games Day totals. It is definitely a win-win situation.
On May 2 we will be taking the money from the Games Day, plus whatever generous people donate, to the Canadian Red Cross office in Barrie. The great people of Ukraine deserve our help and we will continue to give because we are Canadians – we care! There will be a donation jar at the hall that day as well.
