‘Dr. Creighton will be missed’

To the editor,

Just a little personal perspective on Dr. Creighton. Some time ago, I had a bad cough that wouldn’t go away and went the emergency room here in Walkerton. The doctor on duty diagnosed pneumonia and sent me home with a prescription for antibiotics. A week later, still coughing and feeling much worse, I went back to emerge and saw another doctor who prescribed a different antibiotic. I saw a third doctor – same result and a different medication, yet I was still getting worse.

And then Dr. Creighton was in emerge.

“You don’t have bronchitis,” he told me, and prescribed a diuretic to get rid of the fluid around my lungs. Within three days, like a miracle, after a month of feeling horrible, I had no more cough and felt my old self again.

But there was another pleasant surprise in store – Dr. Creighton called me, on a Saturday, to check and see how I was feeling. What doctor does that anymore?

Dr. Creighton will be missed.
