To the editor,
Deputy Mayor Dan Gieruszak was disingenuous when he replied to Coun. Steve Adam’s question whether “taxpayers” money was used by the Saugeen Municipal Airport Commission (SMAC) to litigate a particular resident. (“Brockton residents to see 3.51 per cent tax increase over last year”)
I know for a fact that SMAC had to pay for consultation fees and letters sent to a “particular resident” – me – on numerous occasions from their Toronto law firm. The Toronto law firm was also present at many in-camera meetings to discuss a new contract that they (SMAC) wanted to impose on me. I do not believe that this Toronto law firm worked pro bono for Mr. Gieruszak and the SMAC.
In view of this information, which I have corrected and which is well documented, Brockton council should demand that Mr. Gieruszak be more truthful when replying to council queries.

Editor’s note: Coun. Adams used the term “litigate” when asking about the legal costs in the SMAC budget, while Deputy Mayor Gieruszak used the term “court costs” during the discussion.
