Dear Editor:
While the Ontario Progressive Conservatives have worked themselves into a frenzy over the sins of leadership candidate Patrick Brown, the other four contenders are throwing our children – and theirs – under the climate change bus. They are all dead set against the carbon tax outlined in The People’s Guarantee, the Ontario PC election platform endorsed by the caucus last fall. While it’s dead easy to say you’ll kill a tax to win votes, what is your alternative to reduce Ontario’s greenhouse gas emissions? No one, except Patrick Brown, points out that all the revenue raised by the People’s Guarantee carbon tax would be returned to Ontario families to help us transition off fossil fuels. MPP Ted Arnott said in December doing nothing about climate change is not an option. So, Caroline Mulroney, Christine Elliott, Doug Ford and Tanya Grenic Owen, what do you stand for, other than being against a tax that could make a world of difference to our kids?
