On page 40 of Feb 26 Wellington Advertiser is a large display ad announcing a proposed zoning amendment and draft plan of subdivision off Colborne and Beatty Line N.
The plan is for 168 detached homes, 34 townhomes, room for an elementary school and a neighbourhood park and walkways.
While, it’s hard to feel great about loosing a farm and no doubt trees to yet another development, this time, Centre Wellington has draft Urban Design Guidelines to “build on intentions and aspirations of the Township to create a community that conserves its cultural and natural heritage resources, while allowing for contextually sensitive growth and development.” In short, building places with distinct beauty and identity, so says the document.
I encourage readers to take a look at it – it’s an easy read that describes a friendly, welcoming place to call home.

Let’s go see what’s in store for the cornfield. The meeting is taking place at Aboyne Hall, March 22 at 7 PM.
