Lab appointments cancelled at South Bruce Grey Health Centre Locations July 19.

Please be advised that effective immediately outpatient lab appointments will be cancelled for today, July 19 2024 at all South Bruce Grey Health Centre (SBGHC) locations. 

SOUTH-BRUCE / GREY – In a media release, SBGHC notified the public that their systems have been impacted by the global Microsoft outage and have been advised to discontinue outpatient collections today until the issue is resolved.

SBGHC anticipates outpatient lab services to resume as per usual on Monday but will provide further updates as required.  Urgent same day outpatient lab appointments will continue as per usual.  Staff are currently working through notifying impacted patients and rebooking, as necessary.

The global technology outage is currently grounding flights at Canadian airports and disrupting other hospital systems. In a report published by CTV News, Cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike said “the problem occurred when it deployed a faulty update to computers running Microsoft Windows – and that the outage was not a security incident or cyberattack.” The issue affected Microsoft 365 apps and services –
