LISTOWEL – Perth County OPP has laid charges against two individuals following an investigation earlier this month in Listowel’s west end.
On Aug. 9, just before 10 a.m., police attended a parking lot on Mitchell Road South. Police say a vehicle appeared to have been in a minor collision, causing some property damage.
Police investigated and conducted a standard field sobriety test. The driver of the vehicle was arrested and transported to a local OPP station for further testing.
The driver, 29-year-old Kyle Janes of Tiverton, has been charged with:
operation while impaired – blood drug concentration;
possession of a Schedule I substance – cocaine; and
possession of a Schedule I substance – methamphetamine.
A 90-day driving suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment were initiated as per statute.
To vehicle’s passenger, 57-year-old Bernard Paquette of Southwold Township, was also arrested and charged with possession of a Schedule I substance – methamphetamine.
Both of the accused in this incident were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in Stratford court at a later date to answer to the charges.
