LISTOWEL – On Oct. 26 just before 4 p.m., Perth County OPP stopped and investigated a motor vehicle that was showing odd driving behaviour on Argyle Avenue North in the Municipality of North Perth.
Upon speaking with the driver, the officer had reason to believe they were impaired by a drug. The driver performed a standard field sobriety test and was subsequently arrested and transported to a local operations centre for a drug recognition evaluation.
As a result, Brian Schaffter, 37, of Wasaga Beach has been charged with: Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, possession of a Schedule I substance – opioid (other than heroin), drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit, use plate not authorized without insurance, and drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.
