Impaired driver arrested in North Perth

NORTH PERTH – On Sept. 8 just after 8 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police were alerted to a suspicious vehicle parked at a residence in the area of Perth Road 164 in the Municipality of North Perth.

Police spoke with the vehicle driver who was displaying signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and transported to a local OPP detachment where further tests were administered.

As a result, Jeffrey Johnston, 39, of Hamilton, has been charged with: Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, possession of a Schedule I substance – opioid (other than heroin), and possession of a Schedule I substance – methamphetamine.

The accused in this matter has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.
