NORTH PERTH – A Huron East man is facing multiple charges following a single-vehicle crash on Road 164 early Sunday morning.
Perth County OPP say officers responded to the crash on Dec. 11 at 12:15 a.m. According to police, officers found a truck in the ditch upon arrival.
“Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed alcohol and was displaying signs of impairment. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to a local hospital as a precaution,” states a media release from Perth County OPP.
The driver, 73-year-old Gregory Nicholls of Brussels, has been charged with:
operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs;
operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus);
assault a peace officer while carrying a weapon; and
resist peace officer.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.
