HPPH announces closure of Wingham site as of Jan. 1

WINGHAM – Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) announced on Tuesday morning that its Wingham site will close permanently, as of Jan. 1.

Despite the closure of the site, not all services offered by HPPH will be impacted.

In a short press release, HPPH said the site closure affects sexual health services and immunizations in Wingham.

HPPH will continue to province well water sample kit pick-up and same drop-off, as well as oral health services, through its space at the Wingham and District Hospital (270 Carling Terrace).

519-440-1439. Harm reduction supplies continue to be available through Royal Oaks Pharmacy at 131 John St. E. in Wingham.

Funding gap

In November, HPPH announced the organization was expecting a $1.5 million funding shortfall for 2024. Instead of passing those costs on to local municipalities, the HPPH board elected to make  budget cuts, and eliminate 13.5 full-time positions.
