Hawks announce new president, executive

WALKERTON – The Walkerton Hawks will start a new chapter in the organization with a new executive team for the 2022-23 season. 

Hawks fans would like to thank the outgoing executive team for their commitment and dedication for the past 17 years.

“Ray Wright, Dennis Fry, Brian Dales, Dennis O’Hagan and Mike Wagner earned the trust of our outstanding fans and community sponsors to turn our local Junior C Hockey Club into a success,” state team officials.

Under their leadership and general manager Steve Barrett, the Walkerton Hawks appeared in 12 straight finals and won seven Western Division championships.

To ensure the success of the hockey team and the commitment to our fans and sponsors, the Walkerton Hawks organization is proud to announce that James Lang will assume the role of president. 

Lang brings over 15 years of experience in the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA) as a on-ice official, along with the proven leadership qualities that will help guide the executive team and the hockey club in the right direction. Mike Scott will be vice-president. Bryn Maus took the position as executive manager and Cole Dales will assume the role of executive advisor. Dick Fitzsimmons will remain with the team as a director and Robert Haig will advise as treasurer. The remainder of the director positions will be announced as they are accepted.

Barrett will return as general manager. The new executive team looks forward to supporting his ongoing vision for a successful hockey team and will work diligently to support him, his staff and the players.
