Hanover Police looking for driver in fatal hit-and-run

HANOVER – Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that struck and killed a 66-year-old Hanover female pedestrian on June 11 at 5:20 p.m. The collision occurred at the entrance to Hanover Park on 7th Avenue. Police, Grey County Paramedics and the Hanover Fire Department responded. The woman was transported to Hanover hospital, but succumbed to her injuries.
Police say the victim was stuck as she crossed the road by a northbound vehicle that fled the scene at a high rate of speed. The vehicle is described as a 2007 red Chrysler PT Cruiser convertible, with licence plate CKPR 013. Police say it will have damage to the front end and windshield.
Investigators have determined that shortly before the collision, the suspect vehicle had travelled on Con. 2 SDR in the former Brant township, also known as the Southline. The vehicle went north, past Hanover and District Hospital onto 7 th Avenue driving in an erratic manner before striking the pedestrian at Hanover Park. After the collision, the suspect vehicle continued north on Bruce Road 10, turning west on Con. 4 in the former Brant Township.
Hanover Police are being assisted by OPP traffic collision specialists and the OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit.
Investigators are asking anyone with surveillance videos (home, business and dashcam) to check for the PT Cruiser from Con. 2 SDR (Southline) through Hanover on 7th Avenue and along Con. 4 in the former Brant Township between 5 p.m. and 5:45 p.m.
Anyone with information on the driver, or the PT Cruiser is asked to contact police immediately by calling 911.
Police investigators are encouraging the driver to surrender to the Hanover Police Service, and remind everyone that aiding this driver in any way will result in a criminal prosecution.
