HANOVER – Two audition sessions, one session of call backs, and the Hanover Community Players (HCP) musical production of Oliver!, and its cast is almost complete with 33 people assigned to various roles and ensembles, with more to come.
Too many people are involved to list all of them here but HCP is pleased to announce that Kaitlyn Miller is cast as Oliver, the workhouse orphan; Tim Heerema will reprise a role from his youth as Fagin, the pickpocket trainer of the little gang of thieves, and Delilah Young is the Artful Dodger, one of Fagin’s group and the person who befriends Oliver in his time of need. Richard Jaunzemis will play the role of Mr. Bumble, introduced at the beginning of the musical with the famous roar of one word, “More?” after Oliver asks, “Please sir, I want some more.”
Sam Los, director, is still in search of three men to take on some roles in the play. Bill Sykes, the villain (who sings only one song and doesn’t dance), Mr. Brownlow, Oliver’s upper-class grandfather (who doesn’t sing or dance) and one other male role that does requires singing but no dancing. While these roles are small, they are essential to the musical in their own way.
The rehearsal schedule is set in a manner that allows a number of people to not have to be at every rehearsal and this makes playing these roles much easier.
The production will take place Dec. 1-11 for eight shows over the Thursday-Sunday dates.
Please contact HCP through email info@hanovercommunityplayers.ca if you feel you can help the production out.
This is amateur community theatre and is an excellent way to get involved in a small way, even without experience.
