Ground officially broken on future Perth East All Wheels Park

MILVERTON – Perth East is all set to build its first All Wheels Park.

Recently, local members of Perth East council, members of the Optimist Club of Mornington and future users of the park gathered at the building site at the Perth East Recreation Complex to officially break ground on the building phase of this 100-foot by 30-foot concrete project.

Township workers have completed preparations for the Canadian Ramp Company to build the park in the coming weeks. Construction is expected to be complete by the end of June.

The effort to bring an All Wheels Park to the area began in 2020, when several members of the Optimist Club of Mornington formed the Milverton All Wheels Park committee and began working with Perth East council to make this dream a reality. Since then, the committee has been fundraising, working with donors on “in-kind” donations, and having input on the design of the park. The club held a roll-a-thon in September 2022 to raise awareness of the project and provided a fun way for the future users of the park to help bring it into being.

To date, $277,000 of the $287,000 price tag has been raised.

The committee plans to celebrate the grand opening of the park on Saturday, Sept. 9.

Donations to the park can still be made by contacting Optimist Tricia Holmes Storey at 519-584-5603 or emailing milvertonallwheelspark@gmail.com. For more information, visit https://www.pertheast.ca/en/milverton-all-wheels-park.aspx.
