Keith Ellis, manager of the Walkerton Golf and Curling Club, is mystified how a Top Flite golf ball came to be found in the middle of a tree on July 19. “I’ve never seen anything like it,” he said. It appears some hapless golfer lost the ball on the third hole fairway some 20 years ago. Ellis said that during COVID, before golfers were allowed to return to the course, members did a lot of work including some needed tree removal. The trees went to Jim Cameron for firewood. Cameron’s son was the one who found the ball. The chunk of wood – with the ball – has been given to Ellis, who’s in the process of deciding what to do to display it. (Pauline Kerr photo)
