Foundation half-way to mammography campaign fundraising goal

WALKERTON – The newly renovated mammography suite at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre is now open and fully operational; however, the Walkerton and District Hospital Foundation is still actively involved in its campaign to achieve its fundraising commitment of $485,000 to cover the cost of this upgrade.

According to the Foundation’s executive director, Hayley Wilhelm, the campaign has raised just over $275,000 of the $485,000 commitment, leaving $211,000 to raise before the campaign cut off date of March 31, 2022.

“We have seen an incredible amount of support from our community so far and are confident that this will continue in the next few months to enable us to attain our goal,” said Wilhelm. “We have seen an incredible amount of support from the community and the Foundation could not be more grateful to all of the individuals and businesses who have reached out to help us meet our goal during this campaign. We still have a long way to go, but with the help of our community, we are sure to reach our goal.”
The Foundation has been fortunate to receive an abundance of support from local communities and businesses across the South Bruce Grey catchment, and have recently received a generous donation of $10,000 from the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO).

“The Nuclear Waste Management Organization is proud to support this important project which will have a positive impact on the health of women in our community for years to come,” said NWMO Engagement Associate Nikole Hagerman. “The South Bruce Grey Health Centre – with the support of the Walkerton and District Hospital Foundation – continues to be an outstanding example of how communities can work together to build regional relationships and deliver excellence in rural healthcare. Thank you to everyone involved who brought this important work forward for the long-term betterment of our community.”
