Guest speaker District A-9 2nd vice governor Tim Meyers was introduced by President Lion Jim Batte.  Tim joined the Palmerston Lions Club in 2007 in order to become a part of an organization that believes in serving and building a better community for all to live in. In the 15 years he has been a Lion, he has served as 2nd vice, 1st vice and president twice. He has also served as Tail Twister, co-membership chair, and has served on many committees. He was A-9 Zone 39 West Chair in 2011-12. With this involvement, it is not surprising that he is a Melvin Jones Fellowship Recipient. Lion Tim spoke on the many projects that District A-9 is working on. His informative talk, with just a touch of humour, had everyone pleased to be there. The Formosa Lions were presented with a banner badge for their donations to LCIF during the past year, amounting to $50 per member. Lions are recognized with a membership bar to hang from their Lions pin for every five years they served as a Lion. Lion Tim Meyers thanked and presented a membership bar to the following Formosa Lions who had reached a five-year milestone:  45 years – Jim Rich; 35 years – Bob Batte, Les Nichols, Jack Fischer; 25 years – Brian Knox;  20 years – Shirley Kuntz, Paul Kuntz, John Schill; 15 years – Theresa Schwehr, Jennifer Batte, Glen Weber; and 10 years – George Voisin. PDG Lion Jennifer Batte thanked Lion Tim for his visit and presented him with a monetary gift toward his chosen project this year, that being the Lions Safety Village.
