BRUCE COUNTY – The Bruce County Public Library is running its annual Food for Fines program at all 17 branches in Bruce County.
Until Dec. 12, clear some of your overdue fines and help support local food banks at the same time.
For every non-perishable, unexpired food item donated, $2 will be cleared from your library fines (up to a maximum of $10). Those without fines are welcome to donate as well.
The Bruce County Public Library started this successful program in 2015, and it has continued to be one of its most valued programs. This year, the library hopes to surpass its record by clearing $300 in fines and getting more items to local food banks.
Library services director Brooke McLean said she feels hopeful about this year’s outcome, stating, “COVID-19 continues to affect our communities, and our local food banks are helping more people in need. With the support of our library members, this year’s Food for Fines campaign will be our most impactful yet.”
