Firefighters from eight departments respond to blaze on Market Road

ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH – The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office and Huron County OPP are investigating yesterday’s structure fire on Market Road in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh.

Emergency crews were called to the scene on April 13 around 7 a.m. Upon arrival, crews found a fully-engulfed barn fire on the north side of the road.

Fire departments from Goderich, Central Huron, North Huron, Brussels, Lucknow, Kincardine, Bayfield and Ripley the day battling the blaze.

Police report that high winds and dry conditions aggravated the situation, and caused a nearby field to ignite, which was quickly extinguished by fire crews.

No injuries have been reported, and no livestock was kept in the barn.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, nor has the total value of the structure and its contents been determined.

Police are asking anyone with information that may assist in the investigation to call 1-888-310-1122 or 519-482-1677, or submit an anonymous web tip at P3tips.ca.
