WALKERTON – A strong police presence remains at 308 John St., the site of a fire on Dec. 1.
As stated in a press release from the county, the 20 tenants were evacuated. No injuries were reported.
Brockton firefighters were on scene and extinguished the blaze. The investigation by emergency officials continues.
Brockton Fire Chief Chris Wells reported the department responded to a second story apartment fire. Approximately 10 fire trucks responded to the call, including Hanover Fire and Mildmay Fire, for support, along with paramedics and police.
The apartment building is operated by Bruce County Housing Corporation. The tenants were taken to the local community centre where the county worked with partner organizations to find shelter for tenants and look after their immediate needs.
