Extensive drug charges laid following traffic stop

NORTH PERTH – A traffic stop in the Municipality of North Perth in December has resulted in four people facing a variety of charges, seized drugs, and a damaged police cruiser.

Just before 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 11, 2021, a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on general patrol attempted to stop a vehicle travelling on Perth Road 164, south of Palmerston. The vehicle tried to flee the scene, and ended up colliding with the police cruiser, and came to rest in a ditch. No one was injured in the collision.

During the investigation, the occupants were found to be in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. All four occupants were arrested and charged with drug-related charges. Quantities of methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine, hydromorphone and morphine were seized.

Rebecca Brown, 33, of Wroxeter, has been charged with: Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine, possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid (two counts), possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – cocaine, dangerous operation, flight from peace officer, driving while under suspension, carrying concealed weapon, possession of an identity document, possession of imitation weapon for dangerous purpose, operate a motor vehicle without insurance, and driver – fail to properly wear seatbelt.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Evan Haney, 25, of Kitchener, has been charged with: Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the purpose of tafficking – methamphetamine, possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid (two counts), possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – cocaine, and possession of an identity document.

Blake Hurst, 21, of Owen Sound, has been charged with: Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine, possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid (two counts), possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – cocaine, and possession of an identity document.

Canden Young-Stone, 30, of no fixed address, has been charged with: Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine, possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid (two counts), and possession of an identity document.

The accused parties were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.
