BRUCE COUNTY – South Bruce Grey Health Centre announced Thursday that the emergency rooms at both the Chesley and Walkerton sites will be closed overnight this weekend – from 5 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday, 5 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday, and 5 p.m. Sunday to 7 a.m. Monday.
Patients in need of care are urged to go to the closest hospital, which for most people would be Hanover.
To assist with additional patient volumes going to Hanover hospital, the Chesley physicians have offered to come to the Hanover emergency department once they have finished up in Chesley, on all three evenings.
The temporary cut in service is due to a number of recent leaves of some of the health-care centre’s senior experienced nurses, and “a significant shortage” of registered nurses.
