NORTH HURON – Huron County OPP has charged the operator of an e-bike with impaired operation and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) following an incident that took place in Wingham.
On Friday, May 20, at approximately 9:55 p.m., police say an officer was patrolling in Wingham at the intersection of Patrick Street and Josephine Street when he came across the operator of an e-bike laying down on the roadway beside the bike. The officer stopped to check on the operator and upon speaking with her the investigating officer noted the operator was displaying several signs of impairment.
The operator was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP detachment for breath tests. Two samples of breath were supplied to the intoxilizer technician and both tests were found to be over the legal limit.
A 52-year-old from Wingham has been charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for June 27 in Goderich.
