LISTOWEL – On Nov. 25 at approximately 8:40 p.m., Perth County OPP stopped a vehicle on Binning Street West in the Municipality of North Perth.
Upon speaking with the driver, the officer had reason to believe they were impaired by a drug. The driver conducted a standardized field sobriety test; he was subsequently arrested and transported to a local operations centre for a drug recognition evaluation.
As a result, Jeffrey Boon, 41, of Gowanstown, has been charged with: Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, possession of a Schedule I substance – methamphetamine, possession of a Schedule I substance – cocaine, possession of a Schedule I substance – opioid (other than heroin) – two counts, operate unsafe vehicle, fail to surrender insurance card, and fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle.
A 90-day administrative driver’s licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment were initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the criminal charges.
The accused was also served three provincial notices for the other offences.
