December activities at the Walkerton Library

The Bruce County Public Library has brought back Food for Fines.

As more people struggle to make ends meet, the Bruce County Public Library is well-poised to help our communities while clearing outstanding fines. Bring in a food item to clear overdue fines from your library card to any library branch. We have increased the amount that can be cleared this year:

– one food item equals $5 in fines cleared. There is no limit to the amount of fines that can be cleared. One item clears $5… 10 items clears $50!

Please note that food items may not be used to clear fines on lost or damaged library materials.

All food items collected will go to local food banks. Those without fines are welcome to donate as well.

The Walkerton Library is offering some fun and educational programs during the month of December.

Looking for something to do after school? Come out to our Tween Club and learn new things, make stuff, meet other kids, and have fun. We have a special activity planned for our Dec. 8 meeting at 4 p.m. – we will be decorating sugar cookies! Registration is required. Suitable for ages 9-13.

We haven’t forgotten about adults. Join us on Thursday, Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. and connect with your creative self as we will be making wooden Christmas ornaments. Registration is required.

The Bruce County Public Library has purchased several Cricuts that will be travelling around to the different branches. A Cricut will be at the Walkerton Branch until the end of December. They are available for the public to use; contact the branch to book a time slot. You can use your own device or laptop and supplies or use the library’s. We do have some supplies at the branch to purchase: cardstock is $1 per sheet and vinyl is $2 per sheet. New to Cricut? Check out the training module in Niche on the library website – www.library.brucecounty.on.ca. Staff will gladly help guide you through the steps once your training is complete.
