MORRIS-TURNBERRY – Police continue to investigate a fatal crash that involved an SUV and a horse and buggy that took place south of Belmore on Jan. 25.
OPP, Huron County Paramedic Services and the Fire Department of North Huron responded to the crash on Howick-Turnberry Road near Kieffer Line at 8:17 a.m. on Tuesday.
The operator of the horse and buggy was taken to hospital, however he was later pronounced deceased.
Police have identified the deceased as Jacob Wall, 27, from Morris-Turnberry.
The driver and passenger of the SUV were also taken to hospital, where they were both treated and released with minor injuries.
Police say the preliminary investigation has revealed the horse and buggy was travelling westbound on Howick-Turnberry Road when the horse and buggy veered into the path of the oncoming vehicle.
Members from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team attended the scene to assist with the collision investigation.
Howick-Turnberry Road was closed for several hours for the collision investigation however it has since re-opened for travel.
