The Walkerton U11 Reps spent a lot of time at Wingham’s North Huron Wescast Community Complex over the past two weeks, as the squad participated in the 2022-23 Regional Silver Stick tournament. The Capitals came up short with three preliminary round losses.

The Walkerton U21 Capitals came within a couple goals of winning the 2022-23 Regional ‘C’ Silver Stick championship in Lucknow last weekend, ultimately falling to Tweed 1-0 in the final.

The Walkerton Capitals U13 LL #1 squad travelled to Palmerston on Dec. 1 for a game with the Minto Mad Dogs.

A pair of losses on the weekend holds the Walkerton Capitals second from the bottom spot of the Pollock Division of the PJHL.

The Walkerton Knights of Columbus presented a cheque for $3,000 to assist with the stair replacement project at Victoria Jubilee Hall. Participating in the cheque presentation are Jim Bohnert and Wayne Schnurr.

This year’s July 16 garage tour, a fundraiser for Saugeen Hospice Inc. and the Rotary Clubs of Walkerton, Mildmay and Hanover, raised a total of $17,800. The Rotary Club of Walkerton presented a cheque for $6,000 for Victoria Jubilee Hall’s new entrance stairs. The concrete stairs that were replaced, along with the columns and upper porch were thought to have been installed in the late 1920s and early 1930s, in place of the original 1897 wooden stair

Starting on Nov. 28, volunteers at Walkerton Foodland, Mildmay Freshmart and Kaufman’s Your Independent Grocer collected foodbank bags for the CKNX Relief Truck.
