SOUTHGATE - Grey-Bruce OPP were called to the scene of a collision involving four passenger vehicles and a snow plow on Jan. 22, at approximately 1:15 p.m. in Southgate, on Grey Road 14.

Unsurprisingly, weather was a factor in both data and conversation at the Perth County OPP Board meeting Jan. 13, the first one of the new year. 

Huron County OPP is advising the public that it is an offence under the Highway Traffic Act to deposit snow or ice onto the roadway.

GREY BRUCE - Grey Bruce OPP have charged two people in connection with telecommunication wire thefts that have affected several OPP detachment areas across southwestern Ontario.

WEST GREY - West Grey Police Service is investigating a single vehicle collision that took place in the area of Sideroad 5 between Concessions 4 NDR and 6 NDR on Jan. 8, at approximately 5 p.m.

Elderly residents in Huron and South Bruce are losing hundreds of thousands of dollars to scams, from fake cryptocurrency investments to “grandparent” emergencies, local police and financial advisors warned at a recent anti‑fraud seminar held on Dec. 18 in Wingham.

A police report details that this latest incident involved an online dating app with an unknown person claiming to have financial problems, needing assistance. 

KINCARDINE - South Bruce OPP are reminding people that it’s not only dangerous to drive on a closed road, it’s also illegal.

ORILLIA - The annual Festive RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign saw nearly 300 drivers facing impaired driving charges from 3,095 RIDE events in the west region.

The next initiative for those working at combatting the rising, sustained issue of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) in Perth County is community information and education sessions, aimed at giving people the tools to recognize IPV and the resources available to help them.
