Cargill poker run raises nearly $14,000 for Saugeen Hospice

CARGILL – The first annual Brad Wilken Memorial Poker Run and Car Show was held at the Cargill Community Centre on Aug. 27, and organizers say it was an incredible success.

A total of $13,731 was raised for Saugeen Hospice.

Dawn MacKay, Brad’s partner, organized the event. The event saw 170 registered riders, 35 cars in the car show, and approximately 150 attendees during the course of the day.

In addition to going for a great motorcycle ride or a walk through the cars, participants enjoyed a breakfast sandwich, could purchase raffle or 50/50 draw tickets, buy a T-shirt, or get a beverage and enjoy the music of Matt Whale and Todd Spielmacher.

There was also a donation table set up where people could make donations to Saugeen Hospice.

MacKay says the success of this event is due, in part, to the generous sponsors and dozens of volunteers who helped make the event possible.

Planning for the second annual event is already underway, and is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 26, 2023.
