Busy Lions are happy Lions

FORMOSA – The Nov. 9 Formosa Lions meeting saw President Jim Batte welcome everyone and then opened the meeting with singing the national anthem. A toast to the King and the Lions Grace was recited before enjoying a delicious roast beef dinner. Secretary Lion Hank Soers and treasurer Lion Jennifer Batte attended to their duties. Tail Twister Lion Paul Kuntz kept the members laughing and happy while interesting fines were imposed.

Donations were made to Camp Huronda for diabetic children, Diabetes Canada, Ramoth House in Mount Forest and to G.R.O.W. rooted in love Maternity Home in Walkerton.

Always willing to help out, the Formosa Lions took on many tasks. Lion Jack Fischer purchased lawn fertilizer and volunteered his time to spread it at the Lions’ Park. Lions volunteered their time to man the Salvation Army Kettles for two days at the Walkerton Foodland and Walkerton Independent. Lion Tim Borho volunteered to organize the Formosa Christmas Home Decorating Contest judging, which will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 30. A large group of Lions eagerly volunteered to prepare the Formosa Christmas dinner on Dec. 14 for members and spouses, while members of the St. Joseph’s Aid Society wearing their smiles will again serve the meal and do dishes. Every day Lions are assisting the Formosa Country Christmas committee in decorating the village.

The evening closed with Lion Mike Hallahan holding an auction for a Formosa Homecoming Plaque, donated by Budd Steel in Teeswater. Lion Carl Zettel was the highest bidder.
