BRUCE COUNTY – Bruce County’s long-term care homes successfully completed annual fire drills to ensure preparedness and safety for residents, staff, and visitors.
Bruce County is required to complete annual timed fire drills at the homes with local fire departments.
On Oct. 6, Brucelea Haven in Walkerton was joined by Brockton Fire Chief Chris Wells and Dave West, fire prevention officer for a mock wing evacuation. On Nov. 23, Gateway Haven in Wiarton was joined by Fire Chief Tim Wilson for a mock wing evacuation.
“These successful fire drills showcased a true team effort by our skilled long-term care staff,” said Megan Garland, director of long-term care and senior services.
“Thank you so much to the hard-working teams and caregivers in our long-term care homes. Their efforts and expertise ensure the county homes in Walkerton and Wiarton are safe environments where residents live with dignity, security, and comfort,” said County Warden Chris Peabody.
