Bruce County Library, Alzheimer Society introduce Memory Care Kits

BRUCE COUNTY – Bruce County Public Library (BCPL), in partnership with Alzheimer Society of Grey-Bruce, is proud to introduce the addition of Memory Care Kits to its library collection.

Each kit contains carefully chosen activities and books that are not only enjoyable, but also meaningful and stimulating for people living with dementia and their care partners.

Memory Care Kits were officially launched at the Bruce County Public Library branches on Tuesday, Sept. 21 – World Alzheimer’s Day.

“Bruce County Public Library supports our local communities with meaningful programming and services, both in-person and online,” said Brooke McLean, director of library services. “We are excited to partner with Alzheimer Society of Grey-Bruce to provide this new opportunity for our patrons.”

Activities available in the Memory Care Kits include puzzles, painting sets, and games. There are six different themes to choose from, including sports and entertainment, the great outdoors, a little bit of everything, transportation, animals, and interesting people. There is something for everyone.

Memory Care Kits may be signed out for three weeks with a BCPL library card, and may be delivered to any of the 17 branches for convenient pick-up.

“Life doesn’t end with a diagnosis of dementia. We’re so happy to partner with the Bruce County Public Library in making these activities easily available for valued members of our community,” said Julie Johnston, executive director of the Alzheimer Society of Grey-Bruce.
