Awards presented to students from St. Teresa of Calcutta School

WALKERTON – There were 273 entries from seven area schools in the Walkerton Legion’s Remembrance Poster and Literary competitions.

Youth Education Chair Rich Henry presented a total of 30 awards, 10 of them to students of St. Teresa of Calcutta School in Walkerton:

  • Dominic Kroeplin, third place – intermediate black and white poster;
  • Elizabeth Windsor, first place – intermediate essay;
  • Brighton Gauthier, third place – junior essay;
  • Allison Prongay, second place – intermediate essay;
  • Zoey Gebhardt, first place – intermediate black and white poster;
  • Sophia Ernewein, first palce – intermediate poem;
  • Precious Bolisay, first place – junior colour poster;
  • Ava Gregg, third place – intermediate poem;
  • Kelsey LaCasse, third place – intermediate essay; and
  • Sophia Rhody, second place – intermediate poem.

All first-place finishers from Branch 102 went on to compete at the Zone C-3 Level against finalist entries from 13 area Legions. Amelia Reutz from Mildmay Carrick Public School had placed first in the primary black and white category, along with Precious Bolisay’s junior colour poster. Both entries once again placed first at Zone and then progressed to the District Level. District C encompasses 50 Branches from Wiarton to Cambridge, where Bolisay’s poster came in fourth place.
