Auxiliary donates $19K in equipment to Wingham hospital

WINGHAM – The Gift Shop, operated by the Auxiliary to the Wingham and District Hospital, has reopened at the hospital.

Because of COVID, the Gift Shop has been closed several times. However, the Auxiliary was pleasantly surprised that the few fundraising events the group conducted proved to be quite profitable, allowing the Auxiliary to purchase the following equipment for the hospital:

– additions for the bi-pap machine;

– an oncology cart;

– a glucometer; and

– an ultrasound stretcher.

The total value of the equipment purchased is $19,362.38.

In recent years, the Auxiliary’s fundraising events have included raffle tickets on a donated quilt, an iPad, a bucket of wine for Valentine’s Day, rummage sales (spring and fall), and a bake sale in early December. The Auxiliary also hosted bridge and euchre games.

The Gift Shop contains new spring merchandise, such as dresses, scarves, hats, shawls, jewellery, knitting, candles, home décor, makeup, and many more items. The Gift Shop also has a good assortment of books outside the shop.

The shop is open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Auxiliary invites you to drop in and browse.
