The Township of North Huron is holding its second career fair on Oct. 4; staff finding it prudent to host a follow-up event to build upon the July job fair and the August Centre of Employment and Learning (CEL) information session.

The United Way Perth-Huron (UWPH) and the Wingham Community Connectors (WCC) are combining forces again, preparing to host their second volunteer fair on Sunday, Sept. 24, at the North Huron Wescast Community Complex.

The North Perth Fire Department (NPFD) hosted the Perth County Mutual Aid Fire Department Water Games on Sunday, Sept. 10 at the Elma-Logan Recreation Complex in Monkton.

A brand-new skatepark in Milverton officially opened on Sept. 9, and the community’s kids are over the moon about it.

Applications to sever land is a regular agenda item at many council meetings; most either get approved or denied, but on Sept. 6 at the regular Huron County council meeting, one particular application met some pretty stiff opposition from several councillors.

Another facelift to a downtown business is coming after the owner of 241 – 243 Josephine St. was awarded a $10,000 grant from the Community Façade Improvement grant program.

The Township of North Huron announced the date for their Strategic Planning Open House and Town Hall Public Meeting, which they will hold on the same day, Sept. 25, at the Belgrave Community Centre from 4:30 – 8:30 p.m.

The small town of Blyth was once again a bustling metropolis for a few days as the Huron Pioneer Thresher and Hobby Association held its 62nd annual reunion on the Blyth Community Centre grounds.

North Huron councillors will not see an increase in their honorariums this year, but adjustments to the Employee Business Expenses Policy were made at the Sept. 5 regular council meeting.

A delegation representing the Blyth Kids Club appeared before North Huron council on Sept. 5, requesting approval to use land within the Blyth Community Centre grounds “to facilitate a proper soccer pitch.”

A group of Indigenous media makers, musicians and elders who call themselves the Sultans of String announced the release of their newest album, Walking Through The Fire, along with the launch of a Canadian tour, which includes a stop in Walkerton on Nov. 12.

For the second year, Scott Miller and Steve Jackson are organizing Wingham’s annual Terry Fox Run after taking over for Dale and Linda Edgar, who retired in 2022 after 35 years of promoting this important event.
