August events at Brockton’s libraries

BROCKTON – Wow, summer is flying by! Science in the Summer and Knights in the Classroom came by Walkerton for loads of interactive fun, the kids’ Summer Reading Club meetings have been full of stories and interesting activities, and Story Time in the Park is a hit.  Summer is half-way over already, so get into your branch and check out the Summer Reading Club fun! There is still time to register and enter the draws.

TD Summer Reading Club – until Aug. 26. Track your reading time this summer for rewards and a chance to win prizes. Register on the library website or download the handy Beanstack app to make tracking supereasy.

Teen Photo Contest: “Check out what I did this summer!” – ends Aug. 26. Share your photos or best reels from the summer with us. Tag us on Facebook or Instagram or send your photo to libraryinfo@brucecounty.on.ca (subject line: Teen Summer Photo contest). All entries will go into a draw for a pizza gift card.

Teen Summer Reading Club – until Aug. 26. Register with Beanstack and track the amount of time you spend reading all summer. There will be prize draws in July and August. The more you read, the greater your chance to win!

Culture Days Pop-up Picture Museum – Do you have an interesting item with a story to tell? Take a photo of your item and write a brief story or description, then submit it to libraryinfo@brucecounty.on.ca. Alternately, you may drop off a photo at your nearest branch or bring your item to the library and staff will assist with a photo. All photos collected will be displayed in our library branches to celebrate Culture Days. Photos must be submitted by Aug. 31.

CMHA Grey Bruce Puppet Show – Walkerton Branch, Wednesday, Aug. 9 at 1 p.m. Developed and presented by CMHA, this puppet show is a fantastic way to help children discover tools they can use to help build their self-esteem. Registration appreciated.

Story Time in the Park – Walkerton Central Park (Tot Lot), Wednesdays, 11 a.m., Ages 0-4. Join us for reading, talking, singing, and playing together. Adults must stay for the program. On rain days, story time will be moved to the Walkerton Branch.

TD Summer Reading Club Weekly Meetings – Registration appreciated. Ages 5+. Kids Create – Walkerton Branch – Aug. 8-12, drop in. Calling all kids! Materials are set out and waiting for you to get creative.
