Artists with Brockton connections hold special show in Allen Park

ALLEN PARK – Four multimedia artists will present their latest works of art at Paul Drysdale’s Allen Park Studio (301669 Concession 2 Sideroad, between Grey Road 3 and Allen Park Road, West Grey).

The show opens Friday, Sept. 29 and runs through Sunday, Oct. 1, and again on Sunday, Oct. 7, from 1-6 p.m. each day.

Local artists Debbie Schenk, Jenny Iserman, Susan Rankin, and Paul Drysdale will be present Sept. 30, from 2-4 p.m.

Schenk’s art begins with collage, building texture and layers using a variety of mixed media. The story is told by adding images that invoke an emotion or memory. When the painting connects with the viewer and allows them to create their own story, the journey continues.

Iserman’s combination of printmaking, mixed media, photography, and stitching bring her unique artist’s books, painting, and textile work to life.

Some images are representational, some abstract, all with a sensitive feeling and skilled presentation.

Drysdale works with found material. In some cases, a piece of paper or object will suggest a beginning which then evolves with layering or assembling.

The materials Drysdale uses tend to have a patina of history, such as that which is found on old wallpaper, metal, or wooden objects.

The concept of his art is often dictated by the material, with the meaning behind the art relevant to the title. Although that as always is in the interpretation of the viewer.

Rankin, a fibre artist, will be exhibiting her mixed media collage.

Representational or conceptual pieces incorporate hand dyed or commercially printed fabric, screening, photographic paper, and thread techniques.

Inspiration comes from the natural world and the larger universe or alternately concepts of dreams and memories.

These four friends and artists worked together for many years on the Brockton Art Committee promoting local art and artists through the Juried Art Show. The Brockton Art Committee also initiated the installation of The Wall exhibition space at the Walkerton Library.

The artists invite you to join them at this unique art studio event and sale.
