SOUTHAMPTON – With snow in the air and the holidays just around the corner, the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre has officially opened registration for its roster of new 2022-23 winter events, featuring a diversity of activities and entertainment happening now through February.
Holiday-themed events include special visits from Santa, the Museum’s Light Up the Holidays event on Dec. 15, and festive ‘Merry Munchkins’ programming for little ones ages 18 months to four years.
Happening in the Bruce Power Theatre on select dates through December, the Museum will be screening a few well-loved musicals including Les Misérables, Fiddler on the Roof, and Mary Poppins.
The Break Out of the Bruce Book Club will begin in February with a group reading of the bestselling book The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab, offered both in person and virtually. Seniors 55+ will also have a second chance to flex their acting chops by crafting a monologue in a guided workshop with professionals.
January will see the opening of the Museum’s major winter exhibit “Made in Bruce,” highlighting the fascinating inventions and patents of past local entrepreneurs, including W.A. Gerolamy’s fanning mill, Krug Bros. Ltd.’s dresser drawers, Donald McKenzie’s hockey stick, and more.
The much-anticipated Animal Antics Family Day Show will take place on Feb. 20 with live presentations by Zoo-to-You and Speaking of Wildlife.
