Going into my co-op placement, I was a little nervous I wasn’t actually cut out for the job. However, after a bit of time at the paper, I learned it was quite the opposite. The Herald-Times gave me an amazing experience, and helped me answer a lot of questions about my future.
A goal I had when coming into the co-op was to find out if this was something I really wanted to do. During this semester, I can say for certain I achieved this goal of discovery. The experience was so fun, and I enjoyed pretty much all of it. There were a few things I disliked, but honestly some of them would be less of a problem going into full-time work.
I came in every day eager to find stories and write about them, becoming enthusiastic about photography when before I wasn’t too sure about that aspect. Now, following this, I have been accepted into college.
When I went into the open house for college, I learned the course was actually going to run very similarly to this co-op, so really it was a perfect thing to prepare me for that too. I loved my time here, and I am content with what it has taught me.
The people I worked with were incredible as well, and I’m thankful to all of them for having me.
I’m hoping to write some incredible stories in the future!

Editor’s note: We are going to miss Emily around the office. She was a great addition to the team and we are confident she will be just as successful in her post-secondary studies.
