Surrounded by the love of her family, at Wingham & District Hospital, Barb Bennett of Gorrie passed away at the age of 77.
Beloved wife of Ron Bennett. Loving mom of Ronda de Boer, Sandy and Lloyd Reaman, Bob Bennett and Kim Statia, Patty and Jim Hills. Adoring grandma of Darren (Emma), Dennis and Dianna de Boer; Lisa and Brad Reaman; Bryson (Sarah), Kaden and Brier (Maraya) Bennett; Ashlyn (Caleb) Hills. Sister of Bill Henry, and sister-in-law of Rol & Donna Bennett, Dawna and Paul Voll, Marg and Gerry Brewer. Barb will be lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephews and her large extended family. Predeceased by her parents Florence and Stuart Henry, her siblings Betty and Don Breckenridge, Keith and Sharon Henry, and Bruce Henry, and by Ron’s parents Greta and Bill Bennett, and sister-in-law Kathy Bulmer.
Barb and Ron shared 57 years of marriage. A partnership built on love, devotion, and teamwork. While Ron was running the day-to-day operations of the farm, Barb was the “glue” that held together the balancing act of raising children, feeding men, running errands, managing the farm’s finances, and helping with grandchildren. Although life was busy, they found time for fun whether it be laughs around the campfire, trips to see the world, or sharing stories with other beef producers and neighbours. Barb’s greatest joy has been as a mother and a grandmother. Nothing made her happier than when all of her children and grandchildren were home to celebrate together.
A celebration of Barb’s life will be held at Wingham Knights of Columbus Hall on Saturday, November 7th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. with words of remembrance at 2:00 p.m.
A private interment service will take place at the Gorrie Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Wingham & District Hospital Foundation would be appreciated, and may be made through McBurney Funeral Home in Wingham.
