Waldtraut Droefke of Walkerton passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Chesley, in her 85th year. Beloved mother of Ruth (Harold) Weber, Rudy (Sandy) Droefke, Robert Droefke, and Rosemarie Droefke. Cherished “Omi” of Vincent (Alyssa) Weber, Christian (Ashley) Droefke, Erika (Ben) Storrey, Adrianna (Matt) Leclair, Bethany (Beau) Peters, Dietrich (Brooke) Droefke Westberg, and Great Omi of Aaliyah, Emerald, Alexander, Theodore, Isabella, Violet, Elena, Elizabeth, and Charlotte.
Waldtraut will be remembered by her sister-in-law Pieternella Scholtes and brother-in-law Werner (Marilyn) Lindschinger, and many nieces and nephew.
Predeceased by her husband Rudolf H. Droefke, grandson Logan Droefke, niece Ingrid Scholtes, siblings Dietmar (Helena) Scholtes, Waldemar Scholtes, Hildegard Lindschinger, brother-in-law Horst (Hannelore) Droefke, and her parents Walter and Rosina (nee Tinnes) Scholtes.
Waldtraut also known as Traude, Wally and later in life ‘Val”, will always be remembered for her resilience, her love for life and her ever present radiant smile. She found great joy in her extended family and friends, many of whom felt like family. Her grand and great grand children were her greatest treasures later in life. She enjoyed the sense of community that she always felt with life on the farm.
Friends and relatives were invited to visitation from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Cameron’s in Walkerton. A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Walkerton. Reception followed.
Interment was in Walkerton Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
