In loving memory of Douglas Charles Bestward, 72 years who passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at Health Sciences North, Sudbury.
Beloved husband of 54 years to Ruth Bestward (née Fischer). Loving father of Doug Bestward and Scott Bestward. Cherished grandfather of Justin Wallace Bestward (Maise) and Kayla Bestward (Cole) and great grandchildren Flynn, Everleigh and Cy. Dear son of Alex and Mae Bestward both predeceased. Dear brother of Ruth Karn (Larry) both predeceased, Jim Bestward predeceased, Lois Welsh (Wade), Ken Bestward (Cindy), Bob Bestward, Tom Bestward (Margaret) and Rick Bestward. Dear brother-in-law of Shirley Kuntz (Lloyd), Marlene Bross-Durrer (Mike predeceased) (Doug predeceased), Michael Fischer (Laurie), Donna Drisdelle (Ken), Carol Drisdelle (Guy) and Jeff Fischer (Linda). Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.
Doug loved the outdoors, especially fishing and he enjoyed gardening, tinkering outside and riding his John Deere tractor. He worked his entire career in construction, doing sheet metal work and garage doors. He will be missed and always remembered by his family and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Formosa Community Centre on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 1-4pm. Please come in casual attire, no suits. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Canada would be appreciated.
