William Clifford Halpenny

February 27, 1945 – August 17, 2026

William Clifford ‘Bill’ Halpenny passed away peacefully on Monday, August 17, 2026 at Stratford General Hospital, after a short stay in palliative care, at the age of 81.

Father of Lori (Jason) and Henry. Grandfather of Charlie and Harrison. Loving brother of Cheryl. Special uncle of Kimberley and Carolee (John), and grand-uncle of Charlotte, Harper, Davis and Lacey.

Predeceased by his parents, Cliff and Lois, as well as his brother-in-law Arnold.

Bill grew up on his family’s farm in the Trowbridge area of Elma Township, Ontario. He went on to work alongside his parents at the family business, Cliff’s Gulf Service and Restaurant in Listowel, for over a decade. After the business was sold, he moved on to work at Listowel/Manitoulin Transport for the next 34 years before retiring.

Bill was a passionate outdoorsman: hunting, fishing, boating and hiking were some of his favourite pastimes. He was also an athlete. He excelled at hockey, baseball and football. As a sports fan he hated to see the Maple Leafs lose and loved to watch the Blue Jays win.

Private family services will be held with interment in Elma Centre Cemetery, Elma Township.

The Celebration of Bill’s life will be held at Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel, on Sunday, September 27, 2026 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m.  This will be a casual drop-in style event. Please join the family for a time to share memories and refreshments.

Memorial donations to Waterloo Regional Cardiac Care Centre, Listowel Memorial Hospital, Stratford General Hospital, or North Perth Public Library would be appreciated.
