Henk van den Broek of Listowel passed away at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Thursday, July 2, 2026, in his 91st year.
Husband of the late Ria (Verschuren) van den Broek.
Father of Diana & Stephen Dolmage of Brussels, Robert & Barbara van den Broek of Walton, and Rita van den Broek.
Opa of Meagan, Scott, Dana, Ryker, Virginia, Mackenzie, Shelby, Selena, and Jordin.
Brother of Mary, Rieka, Wilma, Peita, Clara, Marty, Harold, Rick, and Chuck.
Also sadly missed by his many extended van den Broek and Verschuren families.
Predeceased by his siblings John, Wilhelmina, Catharina, Harry, Joe, Nolda, Fran, and Frank.
Henk was a young child when he emigrated to Canada with his family. He would return to Holland on various vacations where he met Ria and quickly realized she was the love of his life. They married, and at first lived in Oakville and soon realized Huron County was the place for them, where he worked as a carpenter and farmer. He enjoyed spending time with family and a good game of cards. He will be remembered for his strong faith and the lessons he taught his family.
Visitation was held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. with parish prayers at 12:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Listowel on Monday, July 6, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Brussels Cemetery.
