On Thursday, January 15th, 2026, William Eldon Burnet “Bill” Taylor’s earthly journey ended on the farm where his life began, a place that shaped him, sustained him and always remained home. Bill was a life-long East Wawanosh Township farmer on the 6th Line who was able to live out his wish on the beloved Taylor family farm until the age of 95 years, 1 month and 6 days.
Beloved husband of Doreen (Howatt) Taylor for 64 years. Devoted father of Glen & Lisa Taylor of Tiverton and their son Blake and his children Keith and Claudia, daughter Taarna (Nick), son Lance (Emma) and his twins Marion Taylor (Wayne) of Grand Bend and her daughter Mariah (Jared) and Murray & Brenda Taylor of Elmira and their daughters Rebecca, Chantel and Katelyn. Bill will be missed by Doreen’s family; Doug & Sherry Howatt of Westfield, Ronald Howatt of Brussels and Connie Burgess of Alberta, as well as by his nieces and nephews and their families and his cherished neighbours and friends in their farming community. Predeceased by his parents Melvin & Jean (Smith) Taylor, sister Eleanor (Edgar) Dane, brother Ross (Ada) Taylor, brother-in-law Ivan Howatt and sisters-in-law Ruth (David) Webster and Dorothy (Melvin) Bogie.
Visitation will be held at McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham on Friday, January 23rd, 2026 from 4:00-9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, January 24th, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Reception will follow at the Wingham Columbus Centre.
Bill’s funeral will be live-streamed and a link available on the funeral home website.
Interment will take place at Wingham Cemetery in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Ethnos Canada Missionary (support will be directed towards Brandt & Lanie Whatley), the Elementary School Fair (cheques only) or Victim Services of Huron-Peth would be appreciated.
