Ian was born in Oakville on April 19th, 1952 to parents Roy and Esther Greene (pre-deceased) and had one sister Sheila (pre-deceased). Ian passed away quietly and surrounded by friends and family on Jan 4, 2026 at Waterloo Regional Health Network Hospital.
He did most of his schooling in Oakville, but spent some time studying in Glasgow, Scotland. After graduation he worked for Dominion Grocery Store but soon after pursued a career in law enforcement with Halton Regional Police where he was a constable for some years. He went on to work Security at Eaton’s in Sudbury. Around this time he had two children named Jason and Nadia whom he loved.
He went on to assume a management position at Ford Motor Co and was held in high esteem for his work ethic and value to the company. He went on to drive fuel delivery trucks and truly enjoyed driving for work and for recreation!
He met his love Ruth and they married in November 1980. Ruth had five children Debbie, Bonnie, Donald, Mary-Ann, and Timothy for whom he dutifully and lovingly assumed the role of Dad. Many summers were spent camping, fishing, and throwing the baseball around. He even coached a little hockey for a time.
He had 13 grandchildren; Jessica Roach, Bridgette Cornel, Tiffany Becker, Jesse Becker, Joshua Becker, Joel Becker, Andrew Durdin, Katelyn Borges-Bills, Emily Veeneman, Rainar Fuchs, Tate James Snow, Olive-Grace McNabb, Charlotte-Rose McNabb, and 10 great grandchildren.
As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Ian took pleasure in sharing bible truths with people over a large portion of Ontario. In his final days, he drew deep comfort and hope from his faith.
Memorial Service was held at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 780 Elizabeth St, West, Listowel, Ontario 2 p.m. Saturday Jan 17th, cremation has taken place.
