Huron County resident James Melvin believes his property, 33962 Union Road, in red, overlaps with the Hays Tract, in yellow, a Huron County-owned, seven-acre forested property that includes accessible trails and boardwalks. The land in question is thatched in the above image. Having initially written to the county in 2005 with a proposal of trading lands that wasn’t followed up on due to concerns from council and the Hays family, now, Melvin is proposing a land swap between himself and the county, which staff report is to give him frontage on Union Road for future development.
